Smart Parking System

A smart parking system is a system that uses technology to improve the efficiency and convenience of parking. Smart parking systems use a variety of interconnected components to detect empty parking spaces, guide drivers to those spaces, and allow drivers to pay for parking electronically.

Sensors

Sensors are placed throughout the parking lot to detect when a car enters or leaves a parking space. This data is sent to the central server, which updates a map of the parking lot in real time.

Gateway

The gateway is a device that collects data from the sensors and sends it to the central server. The gateway can be either a wired or wireless device.

Central server

The central server is a computer that processes the data from the sensors and determines which parking spaces are available. The central server also communicates with the mobile app and LED display.

Mobile app

The mobile app allows drivers to find and reserve parking spaces. The app also shows drivers the location of available parking spaces and allows them to pay for parking electronically.

LED display

The LED display shows drivers which parking spaces are available. The display is typically located at the entrance to the parking lot.

How it works

When a driver enters the parking lot, the sensors detect the car and send this information to the central server. The central server updates the map of the parking lot to show that the space is occupied.

If the driver is looking for a parking space, they can use the mobile app to find an available space. The app will show the driver the location of the available space and guide them to that space.

When the driver arrives at the parking space, they can use the mobile app to pay for parking. The app will then send a signal to the parking gate, which will open to allow the driver to enter the space.

Smart parking systems offer a number of benefits, including:

  • Reduced congestion: Smart parking systems can help to reduce congestion by helping drivers to find parking spaces more quickly.

  • Improved convenience: Smart parking systems make it more convenient for drivers to park their cars. Drivers can use the mobile app to find and reserve parking spaces, and they can pay for parking electronically.

  • Increased revenue: Smart parking systems can help parking lot operators to increase their revenue by allowing them to charge higher rates for parking spaces.

  • Reduced emissions: Smart parking systems can help to reduce emissions by helping drivers to find parking spaces more quickly and by reducing the amount of time that drivers spend driving around looking for parking spaces.
